MORE THAN 500,000 WATCH SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN’S MAIDEN BATHURST VICTORY
MOST WATCHED SUPERCARS EVENT EVER
FOX SPORTS has smashed ratings records with the number of people watching yesterday’s thrilling Supercheap Bathurst 1000 across the Foxtel, Foxtel Now and Foxtel GO platforms.
An average 502,000 viewers watched FOX SPORTS ad-break free coverage of The Great Race from lights out through to Scott McLaughlin’s thrilling maiden victory at Mount Panorama as he beat fellow New Zealander Shane Van Gisbergen to the chequered flag by 0.68 seconds. This figure includes viewers watching live or time shifted via the Foxtel set-top-box, on Foxtel Now and Foxtel Go streaming services.
The result makes the 2019 Bathurst race the number one Supercars race of all time and puts it also into the Top 20 programs of all time broadcast on subscription television on Foxtel at number 17 (ironically McLaughlin’s Shell VPower race car is #17).
FOX SPORTS standalone Bathurst Channel (FOX SPORTS 506) averaged 195k across the day (2am to 2am), making it the highest rating day on any channel in Subscription Television history.
In what was a blockbuster weekend of sport on Sunday afternoon, a massive 703,000 viewers were watching FOX SPORTS suite of channels at 5.31pm AEDT, which included the Supercheap Bathurst 1000, the Japanese Formula One Grand Prix, coverage from the Rugby World Cup, India playing South Africa in the cricket and the Hyundai A-League coverage.
Peter Campbell, Head of FOX SPORTS, said: “This year’s Bathurst 1000 was an amazing race, with thrilling wheel to wheel action right across the day and our Foxtel subscribers did not miss a minute with FOX SPORTS’ ad-break-free coverage of the entire race from lights out to the finish at 6.17pm.
“For our Bathurst 1000 broadcast to attract an average 502,000 viewers on Foxtel, Foxtel Now and Foxtel GO is an amazing result with our FOX SPORTS team delivering a mammoth 46 hours of live coverage across the four days of the Bathurst event, the most ever.
“The Bathurst 1000 was also part of a blockbuster weekend of sports coverage – it didn’t matter if you were watching the Great Race, the Rugby World Cup, the A-League, the cricket or the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, all eyes were on FOX SPORTS.”
FOX SPORTS’ Bathurst 1000 coverage is part of Foxtel’s “Summer Fest,” a massive line-up of the hottest entertainment featuring the world’s best live sport, drama, movies and shows all in the one place this summer.
